<p><em>Il y a des invitations où c’est le plus réactif qui se voit décrocher le saint graal, en l’occurence la prise en main de la nouvelle sportive de la marque Japonaise&nbsp;: la Toyota GR86. Là où la GT86 était fun à conduire mais manquant de chevaux pour se situer un cran au dessus, le constructeur à revu sa copie. Rapide tête à tête avec la belle, noyé dans un tour d’horizon de la gamme sportive.</em></p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">GR86 :<strong>u</strong><strong>n atout de plus dans la manche de Toyota&nbsp;?</strong></h2>



<p><em>What is happening to you?</em> C’est un peu en c’est terme que l’on souhaite s’adresser à la marque car en moins de 5 ans, Toyota se sort progressivement de son image de constructeur de véhicules hybrides au design contemporain (je reste diplomate), à celui de jeune effronté qui se permet, aux nez et à la barbe de ses concurrents, de proposer une gamme de sportives digne de ce nom, dans un contexte écologique tendu.</p>

<p>A la manière d’un bon élève, Toyota a patiemment cumulé les bons points pendant des années afin de pouvoir se lâcher le moment venu. GR86, Supra, GT4, Yaris GR difficile d’arrêter le constructeur Nippon qui vient de sortir la copie revue et améliorée de la GT86 (que <a href="https://lenouvelautomobiliste.fr/essais/229379/one-last-ride-avec-le-toyota-gt86-2-0/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">nous avions pu essayer</a>).</p>

<p>Alors quoi de mieux que le mythique circuit de la Sarthe afin de poser ses yeux mais aussi ses mains dessus&nbsp;?</p>



<p>Si le style de la GT86 était assez tranché (au sens propre comme figuré), celui de sa remplaçante se veut plus adoucit et féminin, donnant lieu à une belle petite sportive. La face avant est simplifié, avec un regard plus sensuel et de bonnes proportions stylistiques.</p>

<p>De profil, elle reprend la silhouette de coupé de la GT86 avec un arrière se terminant sur un petit becquet intégré à la malle et surplombant les feux incurvés. De base elle pourrait passer pour un simple coupé mais la double sortie d’échappement associée aux jantes de 18 pouces donnent un premier indice quant à ce qui se cache sous le capot.</p>

<p>S’il me tarde de poser mes mains sur le volant de ce nouveau jouet, il faut faire preuve d&rsquo;un peu de patience, ce qui me permet de repasser en revue la Supra et la Yaris GR. D’un côté, nous avons un coupé taillé pour la route (que <a href="https://lenouvelautomobiliste.fr/essais/217227/essai-toyota-supra-gr-2-0-tokyo-drift-munich-flippe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">nous avions essayé en version 2.0l Turbo</a>) tandis que de l’autre, nous avons un piège à emprunt à la consommation, comprenez par là «&nbsp;l’essayer c’est l’acheter&nbsp;».</p>

<p>Un peu forte comme expression&nbsp;? Pas vraiment car il faut comprendre que la Yaris GR est une exception dans le paysage automobile actuel, avec son 3 cylindres boosté aux hormones et ses 4 roues motrice, du fun et du plaisir à foison, le tout pour un prix démarrant à 35 600 euros. Le parfait cocktail pour faire craquer quiconque à son bord… et c’est d’ailleurs ce qui me rend hésitant à l’approche de cette première approche sur le «&nbsp;petit&nbsp;» circuit du Mans.</p>



<p>A l’intérieur de cette GR86, oubliez matériaux premium et ambiance feutrée. Ici, on recherche l’efficacité, à commencer par une bonne position de conduite. Le volant à la jante fine tombe sous la main tandis que les sièges baquets offrent un bon maintient.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Permis de jouer</strong></h2>



<p>Au départ des premiers virages, la différence avec l’ancienne génération est flagrante, avec un gain de puissance qui se fait ressentir cette fois-ci dès les bas-régimes.</p>



<p>Avec un 0 à 100km/h abattu en 6.3s contre 7.6s, la GR86 démarre vite et fort sur les rares lignes droites et démontre qu’elle peut tenir tête à bien d’autres concurrentes telles que la Mazda MX5 184ch mais reste un poil derrière une Alpine.</p>

<p>On se retrouve ainsi avec un 2.4l développant 234ch et 250Nm qui œuvre sur une plage d’utilisation accrue. Fini de devoir cravacher le 2.0 haut dans les tours d’autant que cette nouvelle GR86 sera disponible en boîte automatique à 6 rapports.</p>



<p>D’ailleurs, lors des deux tours du circuit, cette dernière se montrait plutôt réactive mais si l’association fonctionne dans l’ensemble, elle m’a semblé moins naturelle qu’avec une boîte manuelle à 6 rapports (j’y reviendrais plus tard).</p>



<p>Ce qui est fou avec cette Toyota GR86, c’est sa capacité à vous coller la banane avec un simple enchainements de virages et son petit dandinement de l’arrière. La fin du 1<sup>er</sup> tours arrivant vite, j’ai pu au moins comprendre que si la GT86 était parfaite pour débuter mais se retrouvait limitée par sa puissance, cette GR86 se montre bien plus à l’aise dans l’exercice en offrant plus de sportivité.</p>

<p>Le coupé semble se montre également sain sur circuit, avec un train avant assez incisif et un train arrière bien accroché au sol tandis que les mouvements de caisse sont maitrisés. Le freinage n’est pas en reste avec du mordant ET de l’endurance servant efficacement à casser les accélérations plus vives de ce modèle.</p>



<p><strong>Au quotidien&nbsp;: premier aperçu</strong></p>



<p>Retour sur Terre, où il faut rendre la place de ce petit coupé. Les animations en cette journée d’Exclusive Drive, ne manque d’attirer le regard sur un panel de véhicules tous plus aguicheurs les uns que les autres.</p>



<p>D’ailleurs une version brutale de la Supra m’attend pour 2 tours de folie, emmené par Josselin Duhazé et les 435ch développé par le moteur 3.0l… pour 1350kg. Ca pousse fort, ça freine très sec et surtout ça tient le pavé comme pas permis&nbsp;!</p>

<p>Une fois mes esprits récupérés, je repasse sur une voiture civilisée avec une autre version de la GR86, pour un très rapide essai sur route, en version manuelle à 6 rapports.</p>

<p>La boîte est aussi efficace que celle de la Yaris GR, sans débattement et verrouillant parfaitement chaque rapport. Mais avec un tel moteur atmosphérique, c’est bien ce duo qui distille le meilleur plaisir, où l’on se surprend à sourire bêtement à chaque relance suivant un changement de vitesse.</p>

<p>En fait, la GR86 se montre tout autant ludique à conduire, notamment dans les virages et rond points avec une sonorité moteur, amplifiée dans les haut-parleurs restant plaisante à écouter et ne constituant pas un réel sacrilège.</p>



<p>En revanche, la GR86 est un pur plaisir égoïste, les places arrières sont uniquement d’appoint et le volume de coffre de 226 litres impose de revoir ses priorités, d’autant qu’il est légèrement en retrait par rapport au modèle précédent (243 litres).</p>

<p>Si la Yaris GR est un futur collector à prix raisonnable, sa sœur GR86 se montre encore plus raisonnable avec un <a href="https://www.toyota.fr/world-of-toyota/toyotagazooracing/gr-86" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">prix démarrant à 33 900 euros</a>. Sauf que sa tête est déjà mise à prix par l’état Français avec un malus scandaleux de 16 950 euros (limité à 50&nbsp;% du prix du véhicule). Il faut relativiser car ce genre de véhicule se faisant rare, sa côte devrait bien au contraire augmenter avec le temps, permettant d’amortir au mieux ce surcoût. Bref un futur collector&nbsp;!</p>
