<p>Appartenant depuis 2001 au Groupe Volvo, la marque Renault Trucks, dont le T-High, décliné sous toutes ses formes, est le modèle le plus vendu, présente régulièrement depuis quelques années le camion revisité dans des livrées pour le moins attrayantes. Bien que la marque Renault n&rsquo;ait plus en commun que le losange sur la calandre et quelques partages de technologies avec les camions du même nom, le partenariat était judicieux. Cette année, Renault Trucks n&rsquo;avait pas oublié ses racines : c&rsquo;était le jaune Sirius et le noir, signature du département sportif de la marque au losange, qui habillaient le géant roulant !</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">RS Truck, comment ça ?</h3>



<p>Développant avec son 6 cylindres de 13L les 520 chevaux nécessaires à tracter ses 7 tonnes à vide et un couple impressionnant de 2600 Nm, ce T-High ne bénéficie pas d&rsquo;une préparation mécanique particulière, l&rsquo;édition spéciale se concentrant essentiellement sur le design couleurs et matières.</p>



<p>Extérieurement, c&rsquo;est la livrée jaune Sirius agrémentée de noir qui prévaut, ainsi que quelques éléments noir satiné, donnant au camion la petite dose caractérielle qui pouvait lui manquer. </p>

<p>Une fois en cabine, l&rsquo;impressionnante planche de bord saute tout de suite aux yeux. Le confort est déjà visuel : Le siège conducteur, totalement pensé pour permettre aux chauffeurs de passer des heures sur les routes en toute quiétude, semble nous appeler pour s&rsquo;y prélasser. L&rsquo;ensemble des assises, y compris la banquette à l&rsquo;arrière, sont surpiquées de jaune et ponctuées de jeux de matières dans les tons de noir et de gris, offrant une qualité perçue plutôt très bonne par rapport à ce que l&rsquo;on pourrait attendre d&rsquo;un engin de travail. <p>Suite à la découverte du poids lourd &#8211; une première pour plusieurs d&rsquo;entre nous &#8211; l&rsquo;équipe Renault Trucks nous a invités à un challenge en 4 étapes pour nous guider dans la découverte de l&rsquo;univers Renault Trucks :</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>« Feel the Race », un jeu de simulation de conduite sur le jeu Euro Truck Simulator 2, nous mettant dans la peau d&rsquo;un pilote de poids lourd sur circuit grâce à un siège simulateur articulé</li><li>« Drive the mini », un atelier de conduite sur parcours miniature de camions télécommandés, ma foi plutôt amusant</li><li>« Be a pilot », une séance photo à côté de la F1 Renault, invitant les participants à proposer les images les plus amusantes possibles</li><li>Et enfin « Take the wheel », l&rsquo;activité attendue de tous, le moment de l&rsquo;essai sur circuit du camion en compagnie de notre sympathique instructeur Philippe.</li></ul>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Un intérieur conçu pour avaler les kilomètres </h4>



<p>Dans un premier temps, à peine installée à bord le confort est royal ! Le siège, monté sur un amortisseur est réglable de tous côtés (hauteur, inclinaison, rotation, dureté&#8230;) et offre une marge de manœuvre idéale. Sachant que ces camions dépassent souvent allègrement le million de kilomètres et que l&rsquo;utilisateur passe le plus clair de son temps derrière le volant, il est aisé de comprendre l&rsquo;importance d&rsquo;un confort omniprésent dans de tels véhicules. En tant que conducteur, la position de conduite est agréablement haute et on surplombe aisément les environs. <h4 class="wp-block-heading">En piste !</h4>



<p>Au moment de démarrer le géant de tôle, l&rsquo;appréhension se fait sentir mais fait très rapidement place à l&rsquo;euphorie presque enfantine de découvrir un jouet inédit.</p>



<p>Tout est très automatisé et assisté, la boîte de vitesses automatique choisissant selon le contexte le rapport le plus adapté &#8211; elle comprend 12 rapports plutôt longs en l&rsquo;occurrence. Sur ce circuit, le camion vit : il se tasse, se penche et nous colle au siège selon que l&rsquo;on freine, accélère ou entame un virage plus ou moins violent. </p>



<p>Même si nous n&rsquo;en sommes pas non plus aux sensations de conduite d&rsquo;une Muscle car ou autre automobile pêchue, les 520 chevaux et 2600 Nm de couple restent très honorables pour un si gros engin et permettent de découvrir des ressentis totalement inédits. Le freinage est évidemment terriblement efficace, et la maniabilité étrangement bonne pour un tel gabarit.</p>

<p>Après quelques tours de circuit, il est temps de procéder aux manœuvres concoctées par notre instructeur : Elles s&rsquo;avèrent être d&rsquo;une simplicité déconcertante grâce à l&rsquo;aide précieuse des multiples rétroviseurs habillant l&rsquo;ensemble du champ de vision. La position haute et la présence de caméras permettent d&rsquo;effectuer l&rsquo;exercice avec précision.</p>



<p>Suite à ces réjouissances, c&rsquo;est au tour de Philippe, le démonstrateur, de nous montrer de quel bois il se chauffe au volant du monstre. Comme s&rsquo;il pilotait la Mégane R.S. également présente ce jour-là, le jovial moustachu a pu démontrer à l&rsquo;ensemble des convives sa capacité à mener efficacement et brutalement l&rsquo;engin de 7 tonnes sur le circuit de Bresse, parfois presque sur trois roues. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Et la commercialisation, alors ?</h3>



<p>Présenté en début d&rsquo;été 2018, le modèle était prévu à 100 exemplaires en tout, et proposé à partir du mois de septembre dans la plupart des pays d&rsquo;Europe. Il faut savoir que le T-High est entièrement fabriqué en France sur les trois sites Renault Trucks de l&rsquo;hexagone, et qu&rsquo;aucun compromis de qualité n&rsquo;est fait pour gagner en délai. </p>



<p>Qui vise-t-il ? Outre la Team F1 de Renault Sport pour le transport de ses bolides, finalement la cible est assez spécifique : patron d&rsquo;une grande flotte de poids lourds désireux de se faire plaisir avec un modèle sortant du lot ou dirigeant d&rsquo;une petite entreprise de quelques camions tous plus atypiques les uns que les autres, le but est de se démarquer, et c&rsquo;est en l&rsquo;occurrence un exercice plutôt réussi.
