<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Panhard &amp; Levassor : 1886 &#8211; 1967</h2>



<p>Même si l&rsquo;on n&rsquo;oublie pas que le nom de Panhard survit à travers les productions militaires, reste que l&rsquo;histoire automobile du constructeur de l&rsquo;avenue d&rsquo;Ivry a cessé en 1967. Cette grande histoire s&rsquo;écrit à partir de 1882 avec l&rsquo;acquisition des brevets du moteur à pétrole de Gottlieb Daimler puis la fondation de l&rsquo;entreprise en 1886. Cinq ans plus tard sortait la Phaeton, de type P2C, qui se trouve être la première voiture construite de série au monde. Cinq exemplaires identiques sont créés dont celui exposé, propriété d&rsquo;abord d&rsquo;Emmanuel Buxtorf qui la revend en 1896 à l&rsquo;abbé Jules Gavois, qui la&nbsp; conserve 26 ans et la donne à l&rsquo;Automobile club de Picardie. Elle est entrée dans les collections de la Cité de l&rsquo;Automobile en 2013 après son classement comme Monument Historique.</p>



<p>L&rsquo;histoire s&rsquo;accélère alors : premiers voyages, d&rsquo;abord entre Porte d&rsquo;Italie et Porte de Saint-Cloud, puis Paris-Versailles, et Paris-Marseille en 1893. Paris-Bordeaux marque le début des premières courses automobiles, toujours remportée par Panhard &amp; Levassor. L&rsquo;activité croît avec la création d&rsquo;une gamme de camions en 19899, les premiers exports transatlantiques, et l&rsquo;arrivée du moteur sans soupape en 1910 sur brevet Knight Kilbourne. Panhard &amp; Levassor prend alors le tournant du haut-de-gamme et du prestige avec des voitures toujours plus puissantes (record de l&rsquo;heure en 1926 avec la 35 CV), et toujours plus luxueuses (Série S pour surbaissée). Le constructeur se lance aussi dans l&rsquo;aérodynamisme avec la Dynamic en 1938, signée Louis Bionier.</p>



<p>A l&rsquo;image de Renault, l&rsquo;après-guerre oblige Panhard &amp; Levassor à se redresser par l&rsquo;automobile populaire. Le lancement de la gamme Dyna en 1946 avec son bicylindres 3CV répond à la demande. Dyna X puis Dyna Z, la marque doyenne peine à se diversifier à nouveau et son avant-dernier lancement, la PL17, n&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;un restylage habile de sa devancière. Dès 1955, Citroën est monté au capital de l&rsquo;entreprise, et lui confie l&rsquo;assemblage de 2CV Camionnettes dans l&rsquo;usine du XIIIe arrondissement, ainsi que les études de la Dyane. En 1963 est lancé la dernière Panhard, la 24 C/CT. La production esse en 1967. Quant à l&rsquo;exposition, elle présente aussi des carrosseries originales : Scarlette, Cabriolet Dyna Z Pichon Parat, et Coupé Dyna Veritas.</p>



<p>Non loin du Hall 3, sous le Dôme à l&rsquo;entrée, sont également rassemblées quelques Panhard &amp; Levassor de course. On compte deux barquettes DB Le Mans (54 et 55), une DB HBR5 « La Camionnette » et une DB HBR4 « Le Monstre », une barquette Trouis DB HBR4 et une barquette CD de 1962.</p>
