<p>Au Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs 2021, Chausson et Challenger ont présenté une proposition inédite de camping-car profilé au gabarit proche du fourgon van. Celle-ci est respectivement intitulée Challenger X150 et Chausson X550, et cette innovation française de camping-car « crossover » secoue un marché jusqu&rsquo;à lors très organisé par catégories, à l&rsquo;heure où la demande grimpe à mesure que l&rsquo;envie de <em>vanlife</em> se démocratise. Tour d&rsquo;horizon de cette nouvelle proposition.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Premier salon pour les Challenger X150 et Chausson X550</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xj4rjf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dans le système commercial des camping-cars</a>, les choses sont considérées comme parfaitement organisées. On trouve :</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>les vans aménagés sur base d&rsquo;utilitaire sans retouche de carrosserie ; </li><li>les profilés, où seule la face avant du véhicule donneur est conservée vue de l&rsquo;extérieur tandis que la cabine est entièrement recarrossée avec ou sans capucine ; </li><li>et enfin les camping-cars intégraux, où toute la carrosserie est redessinée et seul le châssis-moteur-tableau de bord sont conservés de l&rsquo;utilitaire donneur.</li></ul>



<p><a href="https://youtu.be/y3ibJAep97Y?t=13" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Voici leurs histoires</a>&#8230; jusqu&rsquo;à l&rsquo;arrivée d&rsquo;un « crossover » en cette année 2021, les Combo X150 et Combo X550. Et l&rsquo;on ne dit pas ça parce que les Chausson X550 et Challenger X150 possèdent des protections plastiques comme des SUV. Ils sont de véritables « hybrides » par leur carrosserie, à mi-chemin entre van aménagé et profilé. En somme, ils ne conservent de leur Fiat Ducato d&rsquo;origine que la cellule avant jusqu&rsquo;aux portières comme un profilé, mais leur carrosserie inédite n&rsquo;est pas plus large qu&rsquo;à l&rsquo;origine. Résultat, les dimensions sont les suivantes :</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Largeur : 2,10 m à l&rsquo;extérieur, 1,98 m à l&rsquo;intérieur</li><li>Hauteur : 2,75 m</li><li>Longueur : 5,99 m, soit une taille équivalente à un Ducato L3H3.</li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Un format inédit de camping car</h2>



<p>Construits autour d&rsquo;un moteur de 140 ch à boîte manuelle 6 ou boîte automatique, les Challenger X150 et Chausson X550 ont été présentés début 2021 et sont affichés à partir de 59 990 euros, un tarif complètement dans le marché. Ils se conduisent avec un Permis B avec 800 kg de charge utile, dans la limite d&rsquo;un PTAC de 3,5 tonnes. </p>



<p>Chacun ne manque pas de style avec un masque noir laqué pour la calandre et un bicolorisme noir/blanc qui se prolonge sur les flancs et l&rsquo;arrière, tandis que des notes bleues (Chausson) ou rouges (Challenger) complètent le tout en liserés. Si l&rsquo;amorce du pavillon est noire avec un ventail, le reste du toit est blanc pour réduire la chaleur. </p>



<p>Concrètement, les parois de carrosserie sont réalisées de la même façon, et dans le même polystyrène extrudé, que les camping-cars profilés. Un gage d&rsquo;une bonne isolation malgré des dimensions compactes. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Un camping-car à vivre</h2>



<p>A bord, on dénombre 4 couchages et jusqu&rsquo;à 7 places dans le grand salon. Les banquettes se transforment en un premier lit et le second descend du pavillon. Chacun mesure 1,95 m en longueur. Aux places avant, conducteur et passager profitent d&rsquo;une planche de bord reprises du Ducato avec tablette à réplication Mirror Link (Apple CarPlay et Android Auto également), régulateur de vitesse et deux sièges rotatifs. A l&rsquo;arrière, la porte d&rsquo;entrée n&rsquo;a pas de marchepied puisque l&rsquo;on n&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;à 30 cm du sol. Parmi les aspects pratiques, un pré-équipement porte-vélos et la caméra de recul sont présents.</p>



<p>Les impedimenta des camping-cars sont respectés : cuisine assez classique avec double-feu + tablette, grand réfrigérateur avec fraiseur, couloir avec buanderie à gauche avec les toilettes, salle de bain et soute à droite (accessible aussi de l&rsquo;extérieur). Un agencement réussi dans un faible espace, avec jusqu&rsquo;à 100 litres d&rsquo;eau propre et 100 litres d&rsquo;eaux usées, auxquels s&rsquo;ajoutent une bouteille de 13 kg de gaz pour chauffer l&rsquo;eau &#8211; le chauffage du véhicule monte à 4000 watts avec le moteur du Ducato.</p>



<p>Sur le papier, ces Challenger X150 et Chausson X550 semblent répondre à tous les critères dans un minimum d&rsquo;espace, et c&rsquo;est bien là l&rsquo;objectif. Mais la clientèle sera-t-elle réceptive à une nouvelle catégorie dans un monde si bien organisé ? Cela, nous ne le saurons qu&rsquo;après une année pleine (et si possible, moins anormale touristiquement parlant que celle-ci) pour en juger. On peut en tout cas saluer les marques françaises du groupe Trigano pour leur recherche de nouvelles propositions. </p>
