<p><em>Premier SUV de l’histoire d’Alfa Romeo, le Stelvio est un coup de maître. Salué pour le dynamisme de son comportement, le Stelvio ne trahit pas son patronyme, celui d’un célèbre col tortueux des Alpes italiennes. Trois ans après son lancement, et aussi nombreuses soient-elles, les qualités du Stelvio faiblissent face à des concurrents toujours plus nombreux. Dans l’attente d’un restylage promis pour 2021, un repoudrage léger est lancé en 2020. Qu’en penser ? Nous sommes allés le tester en deux version : essence 2.0 l T 280 ch et Diesel 2.2 l 160 ch. </em></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Avec l’Alfa Romeo Stelvio, le diable est dans les détails…</strong></h2>



<p>Visuellement, le Stelvio n’évolue pratiquement pas entre le
modèle 2019 et le «&nbsp;MY 20&nbsp;», pour Model Year 2020 de cette année. Tout
juste remarquera-t-on, comme sur la Giulia, de nouvelles teintes qui arriveront
prochainement comme le Giallo ocra, ocre jaune du plus bel effet. Les teintes
déjà lancées comme le Vert Visconti et Bleu Misano de nos modèles du jour sont
reconduites.</p>



<p>Sur la définition Veloce, qui remplace les anciennes
finitions Ti et Turismo, les bas de pare-chocs et couvre-longerons sont
désormais peints couleur carrosserie. Cela a pour effet d’abaisser visuellement
la hauteur de caisse, comme sur la définition Quadrifoglio, ceci alors que
justement la carrosserie est rabaissée de quelques millimètres sur les Stelvio Q4
afin de gagner en aérodynamisme (Cx de 0,32) et en consommation (moins de CO2).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Un intérieur tactile et mieux fini</strong></h2>



<p>Comme <a href="https://lenouvelautomobiliste.fr/actualites/essai-alfa-romeo-giulia-ti-2-2-190-ch-auto-q2-le-biscione-evolue-en-douceur-57782/">sa sœur berline la Giulia</a>, le Stelvio profite de l’année 2020 pour faire évoluer son habitacle. Au programme, une console centrale mieux finie et surtout un écran désormais tactile. D’une diagonale de 8,8’’, il se distingue par son aspect très horizontal, tout en largeur, et une réactivité bonne sans être fulgurante. </p>

<p>La dalle mate de l’écran craint les reflets de lumière, tandis que la cartographie GPS manque de modernité. Reste l’interface, agréable à utiliser, qu’Alfa Romeo est la première marque à employer dans le groupe FCA. Au centre du volant, on trouve un nouveau combiné à 7’’ pour l’instrumentation.</p>

<p>Côté technologie embarquée, le Stelvio MY20 embarque de nouvelles aides afin d’atteindre le stade 2 de la conduite autonome, avec maintien en voie de 60 à 180 km/h. Hélas, les conditions pour y parvenir sont nombreuses&nbsp;: avoir une route très droite, un marque au sol très visible, rouler de jour sans que la caméra en haut du pare-brise ne soit pas aveuglée. Beaucoup de contraintes et nous avons seulement pu constater que la gestion du changement de file se faisait bien (désactivation du maintien en file du côté vers lequel on enclenche le clignotant). </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Au volant du Stelvio Veloce 2.0 T 280 ch AT8 Q4 : plaisir
d’essence</strong></h2>



<p>Dans sa robe bleu Misano et chaussé de ses roues de 20 pouces avec étriers jaunes, ce Stelvio Veloce en impose. Une impression qui demeure au réveil du moteur, d’une belle sonorité, très vif (400 Nm de couple, 0 à 100 km/h en 5,7 secondes) et que la boîte automatique AT8 laisse monter jusqu’à 5000 tr/min. Malgré la position de conduite assez haute, l’on en viendrait presque à oublier que l’on est au volant d’un SUV&nbsp;! Si le 2.0 l Turbo est le moteur le plus puissant de la gamme -en dehors des Stelvio Quadrifoglio et NRing, c’est l’ensemble de la voiture qui présente un dynamisme hors du commun des SUV. </p>

<p>Direction incisive, immenses palettes au volant (d&rsquo;origine Maserati), bon maintien des sièges tendus de cuir, faible roulis, mode Dynamic qui rend le moteur encore plus sonore, et très vite la consommation s’envole au-delà des 11 l/100 km. On regrettera seulement des suspensions trépidantes et un amortissement trop souple, condition nécessaire pour rendre ce Stelvio sportif utilisable par tous au quotidien. A bord, à allure modérée, l’insonorisation aux bruits aérodynamiques est excellente (merci le vitrage feuilleté) et le système audio Harman Kardon propose un son de qualité, même si comme souvent les basses sont un peu trop fortes. </p>

<p>Côté finition, les matériaux sont flatteurs notamment l’habillage central d’aluminium autour du levier de vitesses, près duquel trouvent place deux porte-gobelets (occultables) et un rangement pour charger son smartphone par induction (devant l’accoudoir). Signalons que les passagers arrière peuvent recharger leurs « cellulaires ». On regrettera, en fin de journée, que le soleil rasant traverse les charnières de pare-soleil, au point d’éblouir le conducteur.</p>

<p>Uniquement disponible en 4 roues motrices Q4, le Stelvio essence 280 ch ne pèse que 1660 kg, cinquante de moins qu’un BMW X3, et même 150 kg plus légers que les plus de 1800 kg d’un Audi Q5 45 TFSi. Tout cela a cependant un prix&nbsp;: à partir de 62&nbsp;600 euros auxquels il faut ajouter 980 euros pour la teinte bleu Misano, 200 euros pour les jantes Competizione à troutrous, ou encore 1100 euros pour la planche de bord en cuir et 700 euros pour l’audio Harman Kardon, pour un total de 67&nbsp;580 euros. Hors option, c’est au même niveau qu’un Q5 45 TFSI S-Line S-Tronic -61&nbsp;520 euros-, plus accessible qu’un GLC 300 4 Matic de Mercedes -65&nbsp;700 euros avec aides à la conduite équivalentes-, et plus cher qu’un Volvo XC60 R-Design 250 ch -dès 59&nbsp;080 euros. On pense aussi au Porsche Macan qui débute à 61 460 euros (mais seulement 245 ch et 6,7 secondes au 0 à 100 km/h). Quant à BMW, il n’y a pas de moteur équivalent entre les X3 20i (184 ch) et M40i (360 ch).</p>



<p>Pour un peu, on sortirait du seul cadre des SUV pour lui trouver des concurrentes : une Porsche Cayman est, sans option, à un tarif similaire et pour le prix, le Stelvio vous offre un vrai coffre et une banquette arrière ! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Au volant&nbsp;du Stelvio Ti 2.2 160 ch AT8 Q2&nbsp;: plaisir
des sens&nbsp;?</strong></h2>



<p>Nous changeons de monture et surtout nous perdons 120 chevaux&nbsp;: nous voici à bord du Stelvio équipé de son plus petit bloc Diesel, le moteur 2.2 l 160 ch arrivé dans la gamme à l’automne 2019. Nous changeons aussi d’ambiance&nbsp;: moins de sport, plus de chic avec cette finition Ti à l’esprit grand tourisme. </p>

<p>Côté style, cette Ti a belle allure avec ses jantes 19 pouces et son Vert Visconti. A noter cependant que Ti était, jusqu’à fin 2019, synonyme de version sportive, désormais, ce niveau remplace peu ou prou l&rsquo;ancienne finition Lusso : il faut suivre ! Si la Veloce est « 100 % ton caisse », les jupes et les bas de pare-chocs des Ti sont légèrement grisés (Dark Miron ou gris Vesuvio), un effet plus chic que du noir mat et que la marque dit inspiré de l’Alfa Romeo 164. </p>



<p>L’ambiance est plus chaleureuse à bord que dans la finition Veloce, avec un cuir chocolat et des inserts de chêne sombre comme la Giulia. La console centrale, avec son petit logo italien, ne souffre aucun défaut d’assemblage, tandis que les plastiques les plus accessibles au toucher sont moussés à cœur. La jante du volant offre une préhension agréable qui se conjugue à la réactivité de la direction… même si elle vient faire regretter un rayon de braquage qui ne soit pas plus court que 11,7 m. </p>

<p>Onctueux et coupleux (450 Nm), bien secondé par la boîte ZF
à 8 vitesses automatiques, le Stelvio 160 ch Diesel est très agréable à
conduire. Moins à écouter, le moteur étant un peu sonore et le vitrage
feuilleté n’y changeant rien. Seule proposition Diesel à propulsion Q2 de la
gamme, ce Stelvio propose un châssis dynamique et un amortissement assez souple.
Trop peut-être, mais au moins les irrégularités du bitume sont compensées. </p>



<p>Notre parcours d’essais, hors autoroutes, ne nous a pas permis de réussir à activer l’assistance à la conduite autonome – y compris sur Nationale à séparateur central –, la faute aussi peut-être d’un marquage au sol pas assez visible. Au reste, est-ce si nécessaire&nbsp;? D’après Alfa Romeo et son chef de produit Benjamin Courteix, c’est une demande des clients et du réseau commercial. Plus agaçant, les interventions vocales du GPS qui coupent la musique sans délicatesse aucune. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Le Stelvio 160 ch Diesel est appelé à devenir la meilleure
vente de la gamme, et ce n’est pas rien pour le réseau de distribution quand on
sait qu’il se vend pratiquement deux fois plus de Stelvio que de Giulia dans la
gamme Alfa Romeo.</p>



<p>Côté tarif, si la gamme Stelvio débute à 41&nbsp;500 euros,
cette version Ti commence à 54&nbsp;000 euros auxquels il faut ajouter 2450
euros de Pack Performance, 980 euros pour le Vert Visconti et encore 350 euros
d’étriers de freins noirs… qui porte le total à 60&nbsp;230 euros, malus de 1386
euros compris (136 g/km). Finalement… pas si loin d’un équivalent 2.0 essence
200 ch&nbsp;(dès 55&nbsp;100 euros en finition Sprint). D’autant que pour un tel
moteur de 160 ch Diesel, la concurrence peut être plus accessible, telle que le
DS 7 Crossback BlueHDi 180 (49 800 euros en finition Executive) et le BMW X3
18d 150 ch (à partir de 47&nbsp;650 en Lounge)&nbsp;; ou, plus coûteuse hors option,
comme l’Audi Q5 35 TDi S-Tronic (à partir de 56&nbsp;870 euros en Design Luxe).
Sans oublier, pour son comportement dynamique et bien qu’il soit plus compact, le
Peugeot 3008 GT dès 44&nbsp;200 euros. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Stelvio toujours le coup&nbsp;?</strong></h2>



<p>Pour qui recherche un modèle au comportement vif, avec un moteur chantant (en essence)  et un habitacle où les écrans ne sont pas trop envahissants, l’Alfa Romeo Stelvio est à considérer très fortement dans la réflexion d’achat. Cependant, l’absence d’offre hybride, même «&nbsp;simple&nbsp;» avec 48 volts, risque de lui fermer quelques portes notamment côté flottes d’entreprises. Quant au contenu technologique, s’il est sur le papier au niveau de la concurrence, il demeure perfectible à l’usage (conduite autonome, écrans réfléchissants, réactivité du tactile). </p>
